Minnesota Power and participating utilities are offering a rebate on qualifying mini-split ductless and qualifying furnace integrated air source heat pumps in new and existing homes. An ASHP rebate is available for homes with a forced air, ducted (ductwork) system (furnace integrated system) and homes with no ducts (mini-split ductless systems).
Rebate amounts vary depending on your heating fuel and type of system installed. To qualify, the unit must be installed by a program participating contractor and meet energy efficiency standards. Below 30°F you will need a backup system, which could be an electric baseboard/radiant or in-floor slab heating system, an electric furnace, or a boiler system. The program participating contractor will work with you to design a system that meets these rebate requirements and supports the distribution system (ductwork or ductless) requirements of your home.
Choosing a Contractor
It’s important to choose an experienced contractor who is trained and certified to install the specific product you have in mind. Ask for references to ensure the quality of the contractor’s work and make sure they meet the requirements to participate in Minnesota Power's heat pump rebate program.
