Minnesota Loan Programs

A growing number of children and families are homeless in our communities. Join Minnesota Power and the Heading Home St. Louis County team to help raise funds to end homelessness in St. Louis County and to encourage energy efficiency in homes. When you purchase one of the energy-saving products listed below or turn in your old refrigerator or freezer, you are ensuring that Minnesota Power makes a contribution to the Heading Home St. Louis County Ending Homelessness fund (up to a maximum of $10,000). You will also get a rebate and start saving energy in your home.

You must be a Minnesota Power residential, retail customer to participate in the rebate and contribution.

How to participate:

1. Shop at a participating retail store selling ENERGY STAR® appliances and light bulbs. Purchase a qualifying product and send in the rebate form (available at store or online) with sales receipt and attach a contribution coupon to ensure Minnesota Power's contribution. Use a separate coupon for each type of product purchased.

2. To round up your old, working refrigerator or freezer, simply call 1-866-552-6755. We will pick it up for free and pay you $50 for the first and $35 for the second. Make sure you tell the customer service person you are participating in the Ending Homelessness program.

3. Minnesota Power will send your rebate in 6–8 weeks and count the number of contribution coupons submitted to determine the total contribution to the Heading Home St. Louis County Ending Homelessness fund.

It begins with you. When you replace an inefficient light bulb with an energy-efficient CFL bulb, dispose of an old refrigerator or freezer, or buy a new ENERGY STAR® clothes washer, refrigerator, or dehumidifier, you ensure a contribution to the Heading Home St. Louis County Ending Homelessness fund. And you benefit the environment by reducing your personal energy usage.
